About
I hold an MSc and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Nottingham and spent 7 years conducting postdoctoral research at the Universities of Oxford and Bristol. I was awarded a Teacher Training Scholarship by the Royal Society of Chemistry, before completing my PGCE, and moving into secondary education.
With 13 years of teaching experience across both the state and independent sectors, including 10 years at Redmaids' High School, one of Bristol's leading independent schools, I have developed a strong track record of helping students achieve their academic potential.
Passionate about personalised learning, I particularly enjoy working with students on a one-to-one basis, identifying gaps in understanding, addressing misconceptions and building confidence. My combination of research expertise, classroom experience and individualised support enable my students to develop a deeper understanding of Science and achieve excellent exam results.
Other Specialist Training

-
Examining - Spending 6 years as an Examiner for Edexcel IGCSE giving me a unique insight into the importance of exam technique.
-
Exam Anxiety - As a special interest area for me, I have undertaken specialist training in this area including strategies to help students perform their best under pressure and how to cope when the pressure becomes too much.
-
Autism - I have been fortunate enough to teach a large number of students whom as well as being enthusiastic chemists have also had Autism diagnoses. Training has helped me understand how I can adapt my teaching to accommodate neurodiversity.
